SIEMENS is one of the global leaders of the electric and electronic industry, of complex infrastructures solutions, and an active provider of sustainable green technologies. The SIEMENS Corporate Technology branch develops hardware and software systems and solutions, and a broad range of services for the entire field of information and communication technologies, acting as main driver of innovation inside SIEMENS. The current research activities and expertise of the Brasov department of SIEMENS Corporate Technology Romania include fields such as Data Analytics and Monitoring, Medical Informatics, Internet of Things, Cybersecurity and Modern Software Technologies.
As part of the CrowdHEALTH project, SIEMENS contributed to several main activities, ranging from requirements elicitation and analysis to leading the Information and Knowledge Acquisition and Management work package. A as part of the latter work package, SIEMENS also provided (i) a trust and reputation framework for evaluating the trustworthiness of data and data-providing entities based on a set of pre-defined rules and analysis of streamed data. A second noteworthy contribution within same work package (ii) was a workflow developed for performing context analysis for examining pre-obesity and obesity prevalence in Slovenia. Basic statistical approaches were considered for analyzing past data, and machine learning techniques, specifically neural networks, were employed to develop models performing future predictions of obesity evolution.
